Perigee
Full Moon Tonight will be the Brightest of the Year At one end of the ellipse (called apogee) the Moon lies 406,700 km from Earth. At the other end (called perigee) the Moon is only 356,400 km away — a difference of 50 thousand km! When the Moon is full on Feb. 27th it will be near perigee — close to Earth. As a result the Moon will appear 9% wider than normal and shine 20% brighter. via fark
If you liked the Reflex Tester, you’ll love to Spanking the Monkey.
This thing is kinda cool. I’d use it with my Rio 800 MP3 player. Right now I’m using one of those cassette adapters.
Moveable Type is moving along fairly well. I finally got connected and the scripts are running but there is one module causing trouble. When I get it ironed out, I’ll get the new page posted. It will probably be sometime this weekend. I’m learning a little about PERL and CGI scripting so working with MT is fun for me. I just have to find time in the evening to play with it.

Fizzled
Hi Raffi. Thanks for visiting the site. Sorry there isn’t much new lately but I promise that I will update it with some good stuff very soon.
The Moveable type install is going OK but I can’t get the CGI scripts to run. I found some documentation to fix the problem but I ran out of time last night. I’m hoping to get it running tonight sometime.
The Big Snowstorm fizzled out and I couldn’t use it as an excuse to not come in or leave early from work. I supposed I’ll have to figure out some other line to give my boss for sneaking out early.

I’ve settled on Moveable Type
I’ve settled on Moveable Type for my new blogging software. Several reviews picked MT over GreyMatter including Wil Wheaton. So today I will migrate my site over to MT. Wish me luck.

Motorsports winner
OK. Here is something really cool. I just met the winner of the Daytona 500 race from last Sunday, Ward Burton. He made a private appearance with the Dodge Motorsports people here on my floor. They signed autographs and gave away t-shirts and posters. I also met Robert Pressley who won the NASCAR truck race on Sunday. Very cool.
Our cat was diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this week. Now he has to receive dialysis everyday for the rest of his life. We will be doing this at home for him. They say with this treatment, he can lead a fairly normal life. Having Alpha for 15 years as part of our family has been great and we’ll do whatever it takes to help him along. He is being a pretty good sport about it. Pam and I are pretty bummed out. If you see me and I seem distant or distracted, it’s probably because I’m thinking of my buddy, Alpha.
You don’t have to send me that memo, I have my copy right here. But we’re going to go ahead and have you come in on Saturday. Thanks a lot.

The Reflex Tester
The Reflex tester is a fun waste of time. I found myself trying to beat my score for over 20 minutes before giving up. Try it out for yourself.
As promised, I moved my domain away from Network Solutions to my current web host, 34SP.com. They offer much cheaper rates and now I have everything all in one place. Network Solutions have pissed me off for the last time. My dotcom address should be active in a few days.
By the way thank you Mike D for your tip on 34SP. The price of only $18 per year to host is incredible and they offer me everything I need. If you are looking for a host, be sure and check 34SP.
Allow myself to introduce…myself. My name is Richie Cunningham.
Huck are you ever going to talk to me? I need to have an intelligent conversation with someone quick. How about it? And remember, I’m not beneath bribery if that’s what it takes.
Here’s another one: TechTales.com. They have “the funniest tech support stories on the Internet.” I could probably add a few myself.

New Host
The move to the new host server is complete. I am very pleased with the response times, the pages load almost immediately. There is some trouble with my .COM domain switch. It’s still registered with Network Solutions and they haven’t bothered to update the name servers yet. If they don’t get it working by the end of today (48 hours later) I plan on switching to another registrar. NetSol has given me nothing but trouble since I signed up with them.
My next project will be to switch from Blogger over to GreyMatter or Moveable Type. Both are weblogging tools you install on your system. They require a CGI-bin directory on the host server and some knowledge of PERL. I’m leaning toward Greymatter since it includes a bunch of documentation and step by step instructions on how to install it on your server.

The site will be down
I will be moving the site over to my new web host this weekend. It may take up to 48 hours for the DNS name server changes to take effect. FSB will probably be down for a short while during the transition.

Geez. I haven’t updated
Geez. I haven’t updated my page in quite a while. Things are very hectic at work and by the time I get home, I just too tired to even turn on the computer. Things are still hectic and I’m still too tired when I get home so this entry is coming from work. There isn’t any better time-saver than doing your personal business during work hours. I mean I have to many important things going on to be bothered with doing actual work at work. Ha!
If I have to say so myself (and I will), I’m the ultimate husband for my wife. For Valentine’s Day, I bought tickets to Friday night’s Barry Manilow concert at the Fox Theatre! The next thing you know I will be at JoAnn Fabrics holding her purse while she shops. Oh the pain.
Doesn’t it annoy you when you meet someone and they say “hello” and not use your name? I think people should personalize their greetings to others. Say something like “How ya doing, Mike!” and that will make me happy.
I have a couple of cool links to tell you but they are on my home computer.
My new web host should be ready for me very soon. I signed up with one that costs $99 per year. They offer all the extras I’ve been looking for and much more. I now have up to 50 email boxes for my use at the domain. After I get my site transferred over, I will sign up with Moveable Type or GrayMatter. Both are very slick interfaces, using PHP that make blogging very easy. I’m excited about learning some new things when I get it going.
