Dell Dude

The Dell dude Ben Curtis, speaks out after his arrest for marijuana possession. Interesting interview, I like his attitude about the whole thing.

I read somewhere there will be 16 new reality-based TV shows coming up. I enjoy watching them but at the same time, they are getting old. Saddam’s proposal to have a debate with George Bush, now that would be an excellent reality television program. Too bad it will never happen.

If it does, you had better get in on the Iraq Attack Pool before it happens.

Xbox or Playstation? Which is better? Evidently the Sony Playstation is the public’s choice. They say Xbox is cool but PS2 has the games.

New pen, thanks.

Hey Gary thanks for the new pen. It’s a combo outfit with a pda stylus, yellow highlighter and a red/black/blue pen. I like it. A lot.

All this talk of stores recently running out of duct tape reminded me of this site. They have other creative uses for our favorite tape beside using it to seal your house.

The Reference Library of Digitized Insect Sounds is a great place to visit to kill some time.

The basement project is almost set to begin. We’re thinking maybe the first week of March. They will be installing an “egress” window where we can escape in case of fire. Actually it will be nice. Now we’ll have a big picture window in our otherwise dark and windowless basement. The only issue is the added cost to our project and the huge mess it will make when the concrete walls are cut to make room for the window. I’ll have pictures in the Gallery when the work begins.

Buying a digital camera? This article gives you some good buying tips and covers things you should consider when buying a new digital camera. From the article:

-Go for a model with two or preferably three megapixels for good quality and overall flexibility.

-Don’t bother with four and five megapixel models unless you print bigger than A4.

-Ignore digital zooms - they actually reduce quality. The optical zoom is the important figure.

-Buy a new memory card immediately. The supplied one is virtually useless.

-Carry spare batteries and buy rechargeables if your model came with disposables.

-Read and study the camera’s manual.

Moveable Type version 2.6 has been released. I am thinking about upgrading. But I’m remembering the last time I switched to a newer version, all my entries got lost. You can bet I’ll take better precautions this time.

I got a Lava Lamp at Wal-Mart the other day. I’ve always wanted one.

Are you tired of the way your computer looks? Then Skin it at WinCustomize. They have loads of great desktop replacements, skins and wallpaper. They also have a selection of Dashboard skins for your PocketPC. I’ve been using Dashboard for years and I enjoy changing the look of my iPAQ once in a while.

For “Easy Access to Internet Radio” try Viddi Player. Install the player and you’ll have access to over 750 Internet ad-free radio stations. Select your favorite type of music then pick one of the streams coming in from all over the globe. If you like a song you’re hearing, click on the info button and you can find out who’s playing it. This app is so cool that it has taken its place in my top 10 favorite applications.

Updated

Sorry about not updating in a few days. I’ve been farting around with a new site design and it is almost complete. I’ve had the current design since I started using Moveable Type a year ago. I think a change will be nice.

Ready for a laugh? Then go to eBaum’s World. This site is a “hilarious collection of media for the masses.” I especially like the Office Humor section and, of course the Soundboards. They have several that I haven’t seen (or heard) before.

Who didn’t love Hypercolor shirts? I had one and thought it was very cool. Now the Japanese have invented clothing that makes you invisible. This could come in very handy.

nuqneH?

If you happen to speak Klingon you may enjoy Var’aq. It’s a programming language written in Klingon. “It’s really something of a Klingon Basic, a simple, loosely-typed programming language designed mostly just to be used for programming things like command displays and high-level control systems.”

“nuqneH?” is a Klingon greeting meaning “What do you want?” They believe in getting directly to the point when meeting someone. Want more? Go to the Klingon Language Institute and learn some words.

From TechTV: Dell wants to discontinue installing floppy disk drives in their computers starting later this year. What do you think? Personally it wouldn’t bother me, I rarely use one and there are easier alternatives. Give me an Easydisk and I’ll be set.

“Thousands of outrageous websites” can be found at Weird Links. Some of them are stupid but others are fun. Check it out for yourself.

I added an email link on the right side of FSB. I had one there before but removed it because of all the spam I received. Web bots roam the Internet and harvest unprotected email addresses. I deleted that account and created a new one. It’s protected from the creeps that send out unsolicited email. Using simple javascript, the bots are rendered useless and can’t get my new address. But you can click it and get an email to me no problem.
