Finished

The Basement Project is finally finished. At least the construction part is done. Now we have to prime and paint the area and later get carpeting installed. The painting should go easy since there’s nothing in the way and not that much trim to paint around.

In other news, we picked up a couple of kittens on Friday. There is a rescue mission in St. Clair Shores our vet recommended that had several kittens from which to choose. We picked one who jumped up and came running over to us and another that has the cutest face and one green and one blue eye. We haven’t named them yet but we’re leaning toward “Nitro” and “Naboo.” Take a look at the pictures in the Gallery.

This has got to be the funniest 404 error I’ve seen.

I’ll probably have to build a safety sign to warn others when I begin painting in the basement. Here’s a site that will create one for me with OSHA standards.

From the Milwaukee Journal: “An unusual birdcall saves pet , parrot found when it calls out dog’s name.”

I’d update my weblog more often if I had one of these.

Lastly, check out The Economists.

Cool Scooter

Pam tells me she spots someone on a Segway HT (human transport) every morning on her way to work. He’s wearing a shirt and tie and is probably on his way to work. It must be great fun going along on one of these things and to have a job that’s so close to home. Now I want one. Amazon has them for $4950, I wonder if Pam will get one for me for my birthday.

The Basement Project is slowly coming to an end. Tom should be almost done by the end of the week. All that’s left is the ceiling and some electrical work. It’s going to be so great down there when it’s finished. I’ll have pictures posted later this week.

Well we saw The Matrix Reloaded last Sunday. I loved it. While the story dragged a little in some spots, the special effects and fight scenes were the best I’ve seen. The overall premise of the movie was fun to debate at work on Monday around the watercooler. Just who was that other guy at the end of the movie laying on the table?

And while I’m on the subject. Did you know…?

So that’s what they mean. Here’s a list of some Teen Lingo.

8 days later

For Pete’s Sake. I haven’t updated my weblog in over a week. Sorry about that. I’ve been busy.

The Basement Project continues. It should be complete by the end of this week. The space is really looking good and it’s going to be a fun place to hang out.

Just as we are ready to enjoy our new home theatre, this happened: Pam turned on the big screen TV upstairs - the one we’ll be using in our fabulous new media room - and it blew up. There was a loud pop and then nothing. Now it won’t turn on. We’ll get the TV repairman out soon to hopefully fix it. If not, we’ll be shopping for another new projection TV. We had decided not purchase a new one for a few years to see what is going to happen with HDTV.

Have you seen this Honda commercial? Is it possible?

Job opening: a Klingon intrepreter.

New PDA

It was a surprise. I got the Palm Tungsten C over the weekend. I can’t begin to tell you how cool it is. CompUSA had a deal where you buy one and get a 128 MB SD card for free. Pam knew I wanted it so she went out and picked it up as a surprise.

After setup, I turned it on and it immediately connected to my wireless home network. I’m able to check my email, surf the Internet and even FTP into my files on my desktop computer. I loaded a bunch of apps and literally played and learned about the thing all day Sunday.

I’m hoping to get it hooked up to the wireless network at work. There were some issues with my model so the PDA guy told me to wait a few weeks but Pam surprised me by getting it early for me. So I still may have to wait to get it working with my Lotus Notes mail.

It’s cold and rainy here today. Everyone is complaining about the crappy weather. It may sound weird but I like when it is like this. I don’t like it all the time but once in a while it’s nice.

Endeavor commercial

It’s funny Doris posted a comment about the song in the new Mitsubishi commercial. I found out its called “Horndog” by Overseers. I had just looked it up last night. To find it all I did was type “new Mitsubishi Endeavor commercial song” into Google. They should make a CD with all the good music these people use in their commericals.

Pam and I are off to the Woman’s Show in Novi. Oh Brother. I suppose I’ll have to stand there and hold her purse while she listens to their guest speaker Vern Yip, from Trading Spaces. Actually I like Vern too so it won’t be too bad. Also, there’s a CompUSA across the street from the convention center so we may not come straight home after the show.

One reason I would like to go to CompUSA is to purchase a new Palm Tungsten|C. My iPAQ isn’t doing the job any longer, I’ve had it for about 3 years and its time to upgrade. This new Tungsten|C has built-in wireless, a great looking display and 64 MB of RAM. If it had Bluetooth and stereo headphones, it would be the ultimate PDA. But I have a separate MP3 player and I can always add a Bluetooth SDIO card later.
