Transfer large files

I was looking for a way to transfer large files over the Internet and Dropload is just the ticket.

It’s Star TREK not TRACK
It’s MISTER Spock, not DOCTOR Spock.
Geez, get it right people. Thanks.

I just bought an iTrip FM transmitter for my iPod to use in the car. It will replace that cassette tape gadget I use now.

One of the things I’ll be listening to are the groovy, hip sounds of lounge music. If you want to hear some samples, Ultra Lounge is a fun site to visit. I picked up a copy of Space Capades and it’s very swanky.

Email etiquette: if you see the line “send this to everyone you know” in an email, you can bet it’s a hoax. So please don’t send it out to everyone you know. If you’re still unsure, go to Symantec and check it out.

Back and forth bin tossing

So it was trash day last Monday. My lovely neighbors put out their garbage the night before. There was a “high wind” alert that day and since our house seems to be in some sort of vortex, all of the unsecured trash get blown into our yard.

If something blows into our new neighbors yard, they throw it over to ours. I’ve tracked several objects over the weeks that start out over there and eventually end up on our property.

This week I threw it back. Then they put it back in our yard. We played that game for a week when they finally gave up decided to throw it away the following Monday. The problem was they didn’t label the container and the trash collectors didn’t take it. Why would they throw out a recycle bin unless you write the word “TRASH” on it?

That night when I came home, the freakin thing was in my yard again. So the game is on again.

The Deep Web

Even with it’s vast resources, Google only indexes a third of the web’s nine billion pages. The rest, called The Deep Internet includes the places that the Web’s search engines can’t spider. These resources include businesses, universities, government agencies and other organizations. It’s estimated the Deep Internet may be up to 50 times larger than the visible web.

Complete Planet, Invisible Web and Vivisimo are good starting points into the vast unused treasures of the Deep Web.

The Bloggies have come and gone. There were some great sites nominated this year. I’m not sure why FSB was missed but have a look anyway at the list.

The Helix Loaded in honor of the release of Matrix Revolution tomorrow. It’s a great parody.
