My new best friend

Let me get this straight…you rarely acknowledge me or are friendly with me in any way. You ignore me when I say hello in the hallway. Now when it comes time to get a new computer, you’re suddenly my best friend. What makes you think I’m going out of my way to break the corporate rules and upgrade your already new computer system? Are you nuts? If I liked you then it would be a completely different story.

I got it. Now I’m finally happy.

The Daily Grind

The Daily Grind is a cool new coffee shop opening soon. Good luck with it, Mark.

Hey Kristen Whateveryourlastnameis… How is it going?

UnPod

So I told you I got a new iPod last Sunday. Today Seth reminded me about the new models just released TODAY. I didn’t think they were coming out so soon. For the same price as my 20 GB one, I can now get a new 4th generation 40GB pod. I wonder why the nice folks at the Apple store didn’t let me know about the new ones coming the VERY NEXT DAY. Losers. I’ve packed up my new (old) one and will cheerfully take it back to the store and exchange it for a newer one.

I left work early today with a bad stomach ache. I’m sure it was something I ate. I’m still not feeling well and I may call in sick tomorrow. So I’ll need the services of The Excuse Generator. Then again, I could just tell the truth.

What did you think of Stargate Atlantis? I liked it. Of course anything that has to do with Stargates is bound to be a favorite of mine. I enjoyed how they are using the technology of the Ancients to help them fight this new and scary enemy.

While browsing through their site, I learned the GDO- the device that sends a signal back to command to “open the iris” stands for Garage Door Opener. Very clever. I’m not sure how I missed that.

Senses are tingling again

We finally saw Spiderman 2 today. I thought it was good but I’m still deciding if it was better than the first one. Most people I have talked to thought this one was better. I did like the villian more and the action and special effects were brilliant. For me, the best part of this one was the burden Peter Parker was unwilling to bear being Spiderman. It was interesting watching his character develop and deal with the conflict. OK, I liked this one better. Take a look at what I had to say about the first one.

Want a Sprinter Van, an Alpha Romeo or even an Apache helicopter? Go here to make one.

July is National Cell phone courtesy month and this site talks about what you can do to be more polite with your cell phone use. Perhaps the self-important slobs who yak on their phones in public should take a look at the rules suggested there. I’m beginning to wonder if we were better off without them.

New iPod coming soon?

With all this iPod talk, Seth tells me about a new model coming. Should I wait for it? I’m not sure I can be without one for that long. It’s been 2 days without mine and I’m having serious withdrawl symptoms.

One with the Pod

Pam called me the other day to report her radio didn’t work too well at her new desk. She now wants an iPod to use at work. After months of convincing, she is finally ready to convert. She is one of us.

So I hatched this brilliant scheme of giving her my iPod and getting a new one for myself. A new and bigger one. This weekend we’ll go over to the Apple store and pick one up and everybody will be happy.

One problem with Pam’s music transfer to her iPod is her MP3 file tags are not entirely correct. I use a program called Tag & Rename that will help organize, rename and update all of her music quickly and easily.

Meanwhile, here are Dick Cheney’s iPod playlists.

Hobnobbing with the famous

Today I met one of the founders of Yahoo!, Jerry Wang. He’s in the building today to participate in a Media Technology Day here at Chrysler. It was fun listening to his insights into the early days of Yahoo! and the Internet.

Later, Jeff Jarvis of Buzzmachine had a presentation about weblogs. His journalistic credentials are impressive and I’m honored to be among one of his peers (well almost) in weblogging. His perspective on how advertisers can use webloggers to spread brand buzz was right on target.

Gmail is awesome. I’m enjoying the interface and I don’t get any spam. I thought I would be getting more invites but nothing so far. Pam got one the other day and I planned on giving it out to someone. Maybe I can have some sort of fun contest.
