Voice over
Something interesting to think about: I have a phone that features voice-activated dialing. It’s a handy feature when you don’t want to dial the number, especially when you are driving.
While getting over my cold, I have developed a good case of laryngitis and I’m having trouble speaking. This morning I tried to call Pam my usual way by saying “Call Pam” into my phone. I got the message “Voice Not Recognized.” After a few attempts, I finally dialed the number manually.
I’ve read that in the near future, interfaces to our computers will be voice-activated. We have become very dependent on our computers and it will be even more so in the future. What are we going to do if a computer doesn’t recognize your voice because you are sick.
Just a thought.
Mike M. reminded me about a VERY cool site based on the best-selling book “How Stuff Works.” I featured a link to an article there about gas pricing a while back. The site is so good its worth another visit. Have fun.
