WTC memorial is turned on tonight

The WTC memorial was turned on this evening. There is an array of high-intensity lights that can be seen 20 miles away. When lit, they roughly resemble the shape of the buildings that once stood there. The space shuttle astronauts will have a special treat looking down at NYC. This new memorial is easily seen from space.

Pam and I watched the 9/11 special on TV last night. It was interesting seeing the tragedy from a different perspective. We got to see what actually happened inside the building shortly after the attack. The banging sound of the people landing on the atrium ceiling after jumping out of the windows from 70 stories up was particularly disturbing for Pam and me. One firefighter commented about how horrible it must have been up there that jumping out a window would be a better fate. Sigh.
